China just crossed a major LLM training milestone.

Meituan unveiled LongCat 2.0, trained on 50,000 unnamed Chinese AI chips with specs similar to Huawei Ascend 910C.
• 1.6T parameters (48B active)
• 35T training tokens
• Hundreds of billions of ~1M-context tokens
• 6D parallelism
• Massive n-gram embeddings (~10% of total params)
• A heavily modified DSA-based Sparse Attention

Why it matters: training at this scale was previously achieved only on Nvidia GPUs and Google's TPUs. If the promised Apache 2.0/MIT weight release happens, it could become another important milestone for China's open AI ecosystem.

LongCat 2.0 was quietly tested on OpenRouter as Owl Alpha, with mixed results. API pricing is $0.75/$3 per million tokens, which looks expensive for its current capability. Will the open weights change the story?
