This article from @turbahn does a great job explaining the evolution of the SVM ecosystem.

It clearly lays out why the SVM is expanding beyond Solana itself: parallel execution, local fee markets, shared global state, and a developer experience that is attracting more builders every day.

But while I was reading it, one thing stood out to me.

Almost every chain mentioned is still dependent on another network.

Eclipse settles on Ethereum.

SOON extends Solana.

Others are building different variations of the same idea: taking the SVM and deploying it on top of somebody else’s infrastructure.

They’re interesting projects, but it raises a question.

If the SVM is truly one of the most powerful execution environments in crypto, why is almost everyone treating it as an extension rather than a blockchain?

Why are we seeing endless L2s, appchains, and settlement-layer experiments, but very few sovereign SVM networks?

That’s what makes @TheCookieChain interesting.

Instead of extending another chain, it’s building a native SVM L1 from the ground up. Independent validators. Independent consensus. Independent economy. Community-run and community-funded.

We stopped talking about an SVM layer now and we are talking about an actual SVM blockchain.

And I think Solana benefits from this far more than many people realize.

The biggest competitor to Solana isn’t another SVM chain.

It’s the EVM ecosystem.

Ethereum didn’t become dominant because a single chain won. It became dominant because an entire ecosystem standardized around the EVM. Chains, rollups, developers, tooling, infrastructure, and capital all reinforced each other.

SVM needs the same effect.

More native SVM chains means more builders, more tooling, more experimentation, and more awareness flowing into the entire ecosystem.

And ultimately that strengthens Solana’s position as the original and most mature SVM chain.
