The very first thing I would advocate for you to have as soon as you have your @starlink is a $20 Roku Express. The range of content and live streaming on this device is huge. From Al Jazeera, PressTV, movies etc. I am not sure about georestricted content but this will open your horizons!
To get your first programming job:
1. Create your personal portfolio website, and buy a custom domain to host it. It doesn’t need to have much, it could just have a few paragraphs about yourself, don’t overdo it the first time
2. Find open source projects to contribute to, and contribute to them
3. Start your own blog, and whenever you make even the tiniest contribution to the open source projects above, write about it, add screenshots, add links to the merged PRs and issues, tell us why you made the change the way you did, and how you did it, tell us what you learned. Ensure you write often.
4. Share a link to the article on Twitter and other channels you’re in
5. Add the blog links to your portfolio website. Also add, to your portfolio, how you can be reached (mostly email) and that you are currently open for work. Recruiters will reach out to you directly via your email.
This is one of the surest ways to beat the system and get your first tech job. Don’t just queue your resume with thousands of other applicants, be different.
