On #WorldRefugeeDay we’re inspired by @AlfDubs who came on the Kindertransport & Ishmael who came under the Dubs scheme nearly 80yrs later. They both had a safe route to the UK & have made their lives here. Now they’re asking the gov to give more child refugees that same chance
It has been three years since the Government promised to help thousands of unaccompanied child refugees settle in the UK.
Lord Dubs, Labour peer whose long campaign persuaded ministers to act, is calling on them not to break that pledge.

Today it's 9yrs since the start of the Syrian war that's created 5.6m refugees
It's a tragedy that the war continues, but it's a tragedy that our Gov is letting so many refugees live in squalid conditions
Thanks @itvnews for filming Ishmael, an example of what Britain can do
Read the incredible story of one Birkbeck student who escaped Syria, secured a scholarship as an asylum seeker and is now thriving studying a Politics degree at Birkbeck. Well done Ishmael 👏👏👏 https://t.co/57HiTQioLR #helloBBK
“I couldn’t believe it”
A Syrian refugee who spent more than a year living in the Calais jungle opens up to @IainDale about the moment he found out he was coming to Britain https://t.co/Ngf8S19VLp
Ishmael was the first unaccompanied child to enter the UK under my amendment. It took him 16 months to arrive here from Aleppo, 13 of which he spent in the jungle in Calais. He's now 18 and studying and it's a pleasure to have him help me here in parliament.
