This is brilliant. What kid ever enjoyed The Grapes of Wrath? “My goal is to make them readers first, and then lovers of literature can come next. If they’re not reading for pleasure, they’re not going to be reading classics,” - Teka McCabe. #TLDE2022
This thread is incredible. I'll never get over Levin working in the field, or Kitty and Levin's communicating through the alphabet. I love seeing which small scenes and big ideas impact individual readers. #TLDE2022
Ohhhh I literally just had a conversation about this with a coworker today! She thought I was crazy bc I usually read 3 books at a time. Usually one light or previously read, one exciting, and one more hefty. Currently reading ACOTAR, Lore, and Go Tell the Bees. #TLDE2022
Overheard two grown women at work: "I used to hate reading, when we were forced to. But man, books on tape, like Libby [@LibbyApp] or whatever, those are good! It's like watching a movie!" Love this for her! Format doesn't matter, reading is reading. #TLDE2022
So cool to see my school in the news for something like this! Our students get university level lessons on misinformation and lateral reading in their Civics and GoPo classes, and are part of a Stanford study. #TLDE2022 https://t.co/cw9SrH1qtJ
@bellofthebooks Ha, I can totally see that! My library does upper left on the front cover and I usually don't think anything of it, but it can definitely be jarring on particularly lovely covers.
Oooh heated discussion happening in the comments. What's your preferred placement for library barcodes and why is it better than all the others? #TLDE2022
I am committed to placing barcodes on the front cover (and not inside or back cover). I’m still not happy with this solution though. #library#librarians#librarytwitter
@jules_at_work Ooh good ideas! Being forced to vote on every option might be overwhelming if a student has only read a few of the books. And I love the staff getting to participate, I bet that leads to some lively conversations in classes.
🍀🏀 It’s literary #MarchMadness for the whole campus!! Our 16 competitors were selected from our most highly circulated titles this year, so the competition should be fierce. Can’t wait to crown the 2022 South Campus Book of the Year before spring break! 👑📖

Sometimes all it takes to change lives is looking at something with fresh eyes. We can create all kinds of opportunities for underserved students when we thoughtfully reconsider who we teach, and how we teach them. #TLDE2022
