Boyang Jin(CHN): I regretted popping the 4Lz, but made a lot of progress in the other elements since 4CC, as well as in speed and performance. This year, I am getting back into form and competing is a part of that. I want to always try my best and challenge myself. #WorldFigure
I hit rock bottom at GPF but at JPN nationals only 1 week after, I was able to put out good performances and pick myself up. I regained motivation and the desire to really compete, which gave me confidence. Maybe it’s because I overcame that hurdle, I am here today #WorldFigure
Kaori Sakamoto (JPN): Usually going into the SP, there is the anxiety and uncertainty factor, but I’ve been practicing well and today I was able to put everything out there.
For the FS, I need to be really laser-focused till the end and be mindful of my breathing. #WorldFigure
(Looking back to 2017), if I meet my younger self, she still would say there are things I could have done better today, but what I would tell her is that it is because of all that I went through in the last 6 years, I am now back here competing at Worlds. #WorldFigure
Mai Mihara (JPN): I was so nervous but the audience was very supportive and cheered for me. Very happy to skate here at Worlds. Over this season, I have a really strong will to get both programs right. The results I get is the accumulation of all the work I put in. #WorldFigure
Haein Lee (KOR): I am happy to make it to Worlds and I did my best today. I am satisfied with my performance and the score. After winning 4CC people asked me if I feel pressure. I really like this kind of pressure because it means I am doing well right now. #WorldFigure
I hesitated on the 3T but the rest was really good. I am happy with the result and enjoyed it from the first second. Normally I start enjoying after the jumps.
I spoke with my mental coach. We talked about I’m skating because I love it and want to show the world what I can do.
Loena Hendrickx (BEL): The time around Euros was hard. I worked hard and wanted to show what I could do. Main goal today is to enjoy competing again. With all the pressure this szn and media attention since last Worlds, which is new for me, I lost some of that joy.#WorldFigure
It took a lot of work mentally as well. At the beginning, I had to overcome the fear of picking for F/Lz again, thinking if this would make (the injury) happen all over again. I also moved away to train, and have been homesick. But I feel at home on the ice too. #WorldFigure
Bradie Tennell (USA): I finished the program and immediately burst into tears because it’s been an emotional journey. The last time I performed for a crowd at Worlds was at this rink in 2019. I’m overwhelmingly grateful and proud to make it back here. #WorldFigure
8 months ago, I was just deciding to come back. Now I’m at Worlds. I’ve improved since 4CC in SP. Looking back through the injury, part of me still couldn’t believe I’ve made this much progress. The fans here are so supportive and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. #WorldFigure
Miura/Kihara (JPN) The energy from the audience empowered us to show what we have been training. We never thought we could reach such a high level (of winning Worlds) and we’re very grateful to have such expectation from the audience and others. We will do our best. #WorldFigure
@_liapereiraaa / @trennt22 : We’re excited to compete at our 1st Worlds and put out a great SP. We’ve taken this season one competition at a time and learned a lot. After 4CC, we worked on the transitions and the connection between us. We’ll add throw 3Lo in the FS. #WorldFigure
Siyang Zhang/Yongchao Yang (CHN) said they are nervous for their first Worlds and skating first in the entire event. The technical elements didn’t go as well as they had hoped for. He chose the music from Saturday Night Fever which has a Disco feel to it. #WorldFigure
#GPEspoo2022 Wang/Liu felt more relaxed and confident today than at NHK. Although a bit tired due to jet lag and competing back to back, they are happy with what they did today. Also looking forward to fixing some parts of the program and having more time to practice after GPs.
#NHK杯フィギュア is Wang/Liu’s first competition after Olys. They are happy to be back but felt quite the time crunch. They went back to Montréal in July and finished choreography in late September. She also had a concussion that took her out of training for 2 weeks in September.
