I finally understand what Machiavelli meant when he said, "Never play fair in a game where others cheat." It doesn't mean become evil. It means stop being naive. Stop bringing honesty to people who study manipulation, stop giving access to people who weaponize closeness, and stop expecting clean hands from people who already showed you they'll throw dirt. Sometimes wisdom is not revenge. Sometimes wisdom is learning the rules of the room before the room uses your goodness against you.

But NOT HERE! 🥲You're a 90-95% average student. 11+ is just another exam you'll excel in. I begged her to relax and enjoy her last year at school. I think the fact that the kiddos are already at an anxious age and stage doesn't help either.

The 11+ does such a number bc I'm willing to bet Ri's teachers and mum knew she'd do well (just based on where her brothers also went- they're obv academically gifted). But she remembers the pressure and being surprised at getting into Combermere.

The hype around 11+ makes it seem to kids so much bigger or harder than the testing they're usually already doing when it's not. And they get so anxious. My daughter was in BITS the whole of class 4 despite our best efforts. And I was like...OK usually your feelings are valid

@kharismamone Tbh as a Bajan, there's some context missing. She finished school as in # of years, she just didn't do CXCs exams which she could go back and do privately. And she went to a top school so if music didn't work she could walk into any job bc that school's alumni go hard.
