@jtbourne This is awesome. Also reminds me of the Western Canada Line - your Dad with Brent and Duane Sutter in the ‘83 playoffs. NYI’s best line that whole playoffs and a huge reason for 4th Cup
@RTaub_ What if Buffalo’s Uwe Krupp doesn’t score in OT on the final day of the season in ‘ 90 to give the Isles a playoff spot? Then they pick 5th instead of 6th in the draft and select Jaromir Jagr. Pittsburgh missed the playoffs, selected Jagr, and won the Cup the very next year
@RTaub_@JLazzy23@StapeNHL Romanov was very good in his first two seasons with NYI. Was a combined +36 over that time. Got hurt early in 24-25 and played through the injury most of that season and then unfortunately missed most of last season. Still only 26 and teammates all know how hard he plays
@richtorrey@WarrenK42058490 Another league stunt that 83-84 season: for the conference finals, the division that had a better overall head-to-head record had home ice. So in the conference finals, Montreal had home ice vs NYI even though they finished 24 points behind the Isles that season.
@19consecutive Isles need to look to how Dallas handled their captain Jamie Benn and also how Ottawa re-signed Claude Giroux: small AAV but performance bonuses for games played and playoff rounds won. Would like to see Lee return.
@richtorrey@5StevenSiegel5 Don’t forget that Mr Torrey traded steady defenseman Bob Lorimer to Colorado after the second cup in ‘81 for a ‘83 first round pick who turned out to be a future HOFer - Pat LaFontaine!
@philzfactz But the 3/24/26 home loss vs Chicago, inspired by an egregious blueline giveaway + nonexistent backcheck by our highest paid player will never be mentioned by Islander nation because 13 is always excused
@stefen_rosner John Sterling will always and rightfully so be associated with the Yankees, but he was also the Islanders radio PxP announcer in the 70s
@v_ronnie22@IslesDen He’s our highest paid player so shouldn’t he be held most accountable? Not saying it’s all on him of course but just tired of the fan base giving him a pass
