We already have a human example: BCG, a live weakened bacterium, has been used for bladder cancer for decades.

More recently, ImmunityBio $IBRX Anktiva + BCG showed a 71% complete response rate in BCG-unresponsive non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, and the FDA approved it in 2024.
