Did Mark Carney and the Liberal government break the law?

This morning, I sent a joint letter, along with Bloc MP Luc Thériault, to the Lobbying Commissioner requesting an investigation into the billion-dollar developer bailout in British Columbia.

Instead of allowing condo prices to moderate, the federal Liberals and provincial NDP used taxpayer money to bail out their wealthy developer friends, keeping housing unaffordable and out of reach for the average Canadian.

There are still so many unanswered questions about this sudden and unexpected policy announcement: Where did it come from? Who petitioned the government for it? Who stands to benefit? And did unregistered, and potentially illegal, lobbying for this bailout occur?

Canadians deserve answers and transparency—not another Liberal cover-up.

After public backlash, the Edmonton Police have deleted a post encouraging people to anonymously report speech that “hurts people.”

But their “non-criminal action” reporting form is still live, with police promising to use their limited resources to investigate “verbal insults, name-calling, offensive jokes, slurs and insulting language.”

Police should focus their limited resources on investigating actual crimes, not speech that is perfectly legal and protected by section 2(b) of the Charter.

When the CRA comes knocking, you don't tell them you'll be taking questions exclusively from people who already agree with you at CBC.

It's fascinating how accountability suddenly becomes optional when you're wearing a government lanyard.

If the Prime Minister and his Liberal cabinet are so confident they have a mandate, if they're so certain every decision they're making is in Canadians' best interests... then prove it!

Hold a one hour press conference where the questions come from independent journalists instead of the usual Ottawa rotation.

Put #RebelNews in the room.
Put #JunoNews in the room.

Put investigative reporter #SamCooper in the room.

Invite independent voices like @JasminLaine, @elevatereport , Northern Perspective and the hosts of The Really Big Show.

No hand-picked access.
No protective bubble.
No carefully curated list of "safe" questions.

Just answer them.

Because confidence doesn't fear scrutiny and truth doesn't need a security detail.

It's remarkable, really. The people who constantly tell us to "trust the science," "trust the experts," and "trust the institutions" seem strangely allergic to answering questions from anyone they don't already trust.

That should tell Canadians everything they need to know about #MarkCarney's leadership and the character of his #Liberal caucus.

If your agenda is as good as you say it is, it should survive a few uncomfortable questions.

If it can't...
the questions were never the problem.

Lawsuit Threat for Exposing a Sneaky Nigerian Doctor’s Sexual Misconduct Investigations
I woke up to a demand letter in my inbox from a lawyer representing Dr. Adegbenga Rabiu, threatening to sue me unless I delete my public interest journalism.

Dr. Rabiu is currently practicing in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan as a pediatrician. He was the subject of two sexual misconduct investigations in Ontario that led to him being essentially banned from practicing medicine in that province.

He then quietly relocated to Saskatchewan to continue his practice, and is now facing two charges of dishonest conduct for allegedly hiding those past sexual misconduct investigations from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).

The video report he wants removed is the one in which I introduced exclusively obtained documents from the CPSS. In those documents, the Registrar demanded the revocation of his license, stating that they would not have given him a license had they known about his history in Ontario.

Now, Dr. Rabiu wants that video report gone and is threatening to sue me unless I delete my report.
I am not going to delete the report. I stand firmly by my public interest journalism, and I will never waver from my commitment to the public good.

You cannot relocate from another province and try to bury your past while having access to the most vulnerable members of our society: children.

I was the only one to cover this story, and I did so without the intention of profit or clicks. But now I need your help to forcefully defend my journalism against this threat, so that the report can stay up and the families in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan can make an informed decision about who they are trusting.

Michael Harris says Pierre Poilievre is “not the right Conservative leader for these times.” Based on what? Apparently, an independent-minded MP travelled to the United States and said something Harris disliked.

What a devastating national crisis.

Canada’s real crisis is the economy Harris would rather avoid discussing.

Mark Carney was advising Justin Trudeau on Canada’s economic recovery plan as far back as August 2020. He later became the Liberal Party’s official economic-growth adviser. He did not arrive from some distant planet to rescue Canada from Trudeau’s record. He helped shape the thinking behind it. (EnergyNow)

What followed?

Canada’s economy contracted in the final quarter of 2025. The first two months of 2026 brought 109,000 job losses, all of the net decline occurring among private-sector employees. Long-term unemployment remained elevated, youth unemployment climbed back above 14 per cent, and Canadian investors purchased $112.5 billion in American securities during 2025. Yet Harris wants Conservatives to dump the leader who has spent years warning about weak productivity, excessive spending, unaffordable housing, blocked resource development and declining living standards.

Pierre received 87.4 per cent support from Conservative members. He had led the party to its strongest popular-vote performance since 1988. Those voters are not confused. They understand exactly what is happening to their country.

The Ottawa commentariat keeps judging Poilievre by whether he pleases journalists, bureaucrats and Liberal-appointed insiders. Conservatives judge him by whether he challenges the policies that have made Canadians poorer.

Carney offers polished speeches, international credentials and the same governing class that produced the decline. Pierre offers a clear alternative: lower taxes, controlled spending, affordable housing, responsible immigration, safer streets, resource development and a government that remembers taxpayers exist.

Michael Harris thinks Pierre is wrong for these times.

I think these times are exactly why Canada needs him.

I was going to make a post about the latest @niknanos poll claiming Canadians overwhelmingly prefer Mark Carney over Pierre Poilievre.

Something along the lines of...

"Canadians are choosing between groceries and the mortgage, yet we're told the biggest story is another poll insisting Mark Carney is everyone's favourite.

Favourite where, exactly?

Every time one of these polls drops, I wonder who they're talking to. Bay Street boardrooms? University faculty lounges? Retirement communities? Because the conversations around kitchen tables, coffee shops and job sites seem to be taking place in an entirely different country.

That's become the pattern.

Sell the perception.
Ignore the performance.
Repeat until the headline becomes the story.

Polls come and go. Grocery bills, mortgage payments and government decisions have a nasty habit of sticking around."

... but then I wandered over to Nik Nanos' X account and discovered he's blocked me.😂

Which raises a fascinating question.

How does a pollster claim to measure what Canadians think while blocking Canadians from responding to him?

Stranger still, Nanos still sends me polling invitations and pays me five bucks every time I complete one.🤣🤣🤣

So apparently I'm representative enough to help produce the headlines, just not representative enough to reply to them.
