I have seen American 'breeders' that have just selfed real European and Canadians actual breeding projects spout the 'strain' nonsense.
Strain is widely accepted in botany and is commonly used when talking rice, wheat, corn barley ect.
Just pedantic ego driven projection from plant selfers who want to seem more intellectual than they are.
