many people are dunking on the github actions outage that lasted for hours today, and rightfully so
if you are a paying customer, the reliability of github in the last year has been terribly disruptive
however as an open source developer, i still have tremendous respect for microsoft and github because they are the only provider today that’s subsidizing pretty much unlimited free service for all open source activities, including github actions which is very expensive to host at the current scale of the open source community
if open source developers have to pay for the operational cost of their projects, most projects will simply not be published at all
they can do this because -
1. open source is the root of github and there are many people there truly passionate and working very hard to keep it going
2. the open source adoption does translate to enterprise business and can create a positive profit margin
i hope github figure this reliability problem out, because if they lose the business, we may lose the beautiful open source ecosystem that we have today
A huge amount of the Anti-AI code sentiment massively overestimates the quality of human code outside of a very small set of open source and high quality company codebases. Human Slop is everywhere and can trivially be improved on by any opus level model.
@kunchenguid it allows users who use agent cli such as claude code or opencode to dispatch and manage codex sessions using axi! check it out here: https://t.co/sVb4H0YE7b
Another feature needed to pull context from several parts of the system without slowing down the main workflow. GPT-5.6 helped me decide what to load upfront, what to fetch on demand, and how to handle stale or missing data without breaking the user experience.
