@KassidyJordan8 It’s crazy to me that climate change is not being taken as seriously as it is. The world doesn’t have much time left, and we’re not doing it any favours. #SOCI341
I think it’s important to put attention to how much of an effect this pandemic has had on the mental health of individuals. Remember that if ever any of you need to speak to someone, there are always the hotlines which are available 24/7 to speak to! Stay safe. #SOCI341
Coronavirus pandemic has led to an "unprecedented" surge of children and teens in psychiatric crisis that is straining an already stretched hospital system. By @LindseyTanner https://t.co/Ycu5sM9hVG
It's crazy to me that with numbers this high within the U.S. that they're not in a complete quarantine. Only essential businesses should remain open. Thoughts? #SOCI341
#UPDATE United States records more than 210,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins University -- an all-time high for the country since the start of the pandemic.
Virus deaths over same period were 2,907, according to data recorded by AFP at 0130 GMT Friday
I think it’s interesting that they’re already trying to incite fear around the vaccine, which can only lead to more skepticism and panic over the medicine. thoughts? #SOCI341
Interpol is warning countries to be on high alert for organized crime networks attempting to get their hands on the coronavirus vaccine https://t.co/KnnRaivfp1
it’s baffling to me that those who are working in the front lines who have not had a break since the beginning of the pandemic are not even being paid living wages.... Toronto should step up and allow those in the front line to have a liveable wage! Thoughts? #soci341
"You’re working harder but you’re not making more money … It’s beyond you, it’s just the housing market and how expensive it is." Toronto’s essential workers earn between $40,000 to $60,000 but can’t afford to live here.

@cyn_soci341 Me too. I had to work Black Friday and it was insane that 1) my store was letting in that many people , and 2) nobody respected social distance at all!! #SOCI341
With Black Friday, I raise the question on whether everyone physically crowding into stores should even be happening this year. Cyber Monday is fine due to all shopping being online. Black Friday should have been online this year, to avoid more inevitable spread. #SOCI341
Personally, I won’t be celebrating any holiday this year. it’s not the year to hang around people other than those you live with. in order to properly celebrate next year, we need to be careful this holiday season! thoughts? #SOCI341
Good news about coronavirus vaccines offers hope that the pandemic will be tamed. But public health experts say the coming months “are going to be just horrible.” https://t.co/GfL621wxNY
I think this is something that should be done all around the world. making these products free is a huge step. Period products are only getting more expensive, thus making them less accessible. Thoughts? #SOCI341
This article is interesting. Already thinking about travel and concerts before the vaccine has officially hit the public. I appreciate the optimism but we should really see how the vaccine unravels! #SOCI341
Travel passes for vaccination status, concerts that require a shot to get in the door, businesses that refuse to serve the unvaccinated are no longer the purview of speculative fiction writers as a COVID-19 vaccine approaches. A quick thread👇https://t.co/xEORqvD8yB
@madu_d01 I don’t think Trump is mature enough to ever acknowledge the fact that he has lost, as we can see on his socials. It brings another warning sign as to why I would never want him running the USA again. #SOCI341
It’s crazy how we are able to be kept up to date a with information like this. Being able to be put at ease during a pandemic with it’s possible vaccine, yet also raises a question on whether we are keen to try this out on ourselves. #SOCI341
Moderna says its vaccine is 94.5% effective in preventing COVID-19. Together with Pfizer's vaccine, also shown to be more than 90% effective and pending more safety data and regulatory review, the U.S. could have two vaccines authorized for emergency use https://t.co/u59zC0zuMY
Not only are people able to get their news online, but with their preferred twitter “news outlets”, they can also livestream, allowing for the elimination of multiple apps to find their information: #SOCI341
The way it's described in articles as "dynamic entry",serves almost as a way to conceal its true identity. Adjectives like dynamic (normally used in a more positive context) to distract the alarming nature of the real concept and the huge margin for error: thoughts? #SOC341
In the States, "no-knock warrants" are under scrutiny and in Canada our version is "dynamic entry." The procedure is pretty much the same -- battering ram entry, distraction devices. The difference in Canada is they don't need to be approved by a judge.

This is why I believe we should go into another lockdown, although not everyone may agree, I don’t think non-essential businesses should be open. Cases much like this are becoming too common, and cases are on the rise once more, faster than slower. Thoughts? #SOCI341
How a spin class became a #COVID19 super spreader and what could have been done to prevent it @KatrinaAClarke shows how significant failings particularly backlogs in testing and contact tracing contributed to 78 people infected. #HamOnt

Although not sure why, there are still people who believe masks should not be mandatory despite the scientific research that has been done. I think what the STM here is honestly funny and a jab at those who don't want to put the effort into wearing it. Your thoughts? #SOCI341
To compare, the store I work at has a capacity of 550 people (not including us workers), and there is no way to actually social distance. I think those restrictions should be taken in montreal too! #SOCI341
I think it’s very smart to be reducing to these new restrictions. It makes me wonder why Montreal isn’t doing the same. It’s cool that online we are able to see how our province may lack in comparison to others. #SOCI341
#Manitoba#covid19 briefing...
test +vity rate at 6.3% in #Winnipeg
new restrictions effective monday
-Gatherings down from 10 to 5
-beverage rooms, bingos casinos closed
-restaurants down to 50%
- retail down to 50% capacity
- sports and rec facilities down to 25% spec
I think its interesting that we are able to bookmark a certain topic we want to follow and be able to know more and follow information more closely.. but be sure to not take this information as face value and do extra research to inform yourself better. #SOCI341
@Emiliecourtot41@AngelaF10422379 I think people need to realize the measures are only temporary; the gym won’t be closed forever! Taking the needed precautions now so we can go back to the gym safely eventually is worth it in my opinion, rather that it constantly having to open then shut down once more. #SOCI341
