Disabled young people are de-platformed by society and the story telling of young people is so critical, both telling and listening about stories is needed.
CONTENT NOTE: @issyhay is speaking of the completely non-inclusive mainstream schools and the need to mask disability, and continued inaccessbility through TAFE and higher education. Despite self-advocacy, adjustments not made, and discrimination continued!
Next up at #NYDS2022 we have the wonderful @issyhay speaking about Education and advocacy, you can follow along our second National Youth Disablity Summit as we live tweet our keynote speakers 🎤
An awesome day at our Wangaratta #ReshapeOurFuture Youth Forum discussing important local matters like leadership, disability justice, education and political representation. Thanks @RosSpenceMP for supporting accessibility for regional young people by making the event free!
"We shouldn’t have to be fighting for visibility, today should be a day of power, of justice of unending queer happiness. But, while we are forced to fight for visibility, we will do so without compromising the complexity, beauty and joy that is transness." - @issyhay#TDOV
#CODA will probably be successful. Hearing people will like it. Success opens doors for deaf people. That's good.
But there are also many deeply harmful messages in this movie. Does the likely success cancel that out? 1/
"Safe spaces don’t exist on their own, they need to be nurtured and fundamentally responsive to a community’s needs. It requires the encouragement to challenge our own views, and the unequivocal assurance that we belong." - @issyhay (they/them)

For me, justice isn't anybody else being hurt in the name of punishment. For me, justice is systemic change to ensure what happened to me won't keep happening to other people. #AWAVAYouthReport
