@tmlfaninvan If memory serves correct the leafs proved Dom’s models wrong for years. Never once were they as elite as the model said. Any negative result from Dom’s models should be seen as a positive for the leafs. Plan the parade.
Nobody has even attempted to give me a cogent argument as to why I, a White Christian millennial man, should care at all about “ the rise of antisemitism.”
@educator4ever36 In her defense, this is the result of administrative incompetence. The lack of communication and favouritism to remove people last minute from a course shouldn’t award the administrator. Let people sweat.
@scottcwheeler Dom’s model has Hutson leaving 100 million on the table with his contract. The leafs went out of their way to compensate Marner. Imagine what he’d be telling Ferris right now if he were in Hutson’s position.
@cbcwatcher I don’t see the point of saying this out loud. You just give fodder to the machine. Stop sharing your thoughts and start acting. People might respect you then.
I can’t believe how they keep making it worse. I just can’t.
I’ve said everything humanly possible in defence of Marner. It’s a lost cause.
By all accounts, Darren Ferris is among the best agent in the league at getting his clients maximum dollars, but he’s rock bottom when it comes to publicity. A truly atrocious player representative in this facet.
He starts off the interview by pumping his own tires.
“In the span of about 10 months here I did 3 things agents almost never get to do. I pulled off a successful offer sheet, negotiated the biggest sign-and-trade in NHL history, and I made a defenceman the highest paid at his position. None of it happened by accident.”
Mix a “we” in there, would ya? Maybe leave some room for a possibility that the Byram’s had something to do with making Bowen a $12.5m player.
The arrogance just pours out of this guy like wifi pours out of Michael Cera’s router.
Then, in attempt to dispel the negative narratives that swirled around Mitch Marner for the better part of a decade, he reinforces the worst of them - namely that there’s been animosity between Marner’s camp and the Toronto Maple Leafs since the time he signed his ELC. (Shots fired at Mark Hunter.)
I just can’t believe Marner’s agent would circle back to this, unprompted, a year after he’s ‘moved on’.
A good representative finds creative ways to pour cold water on this stuff and paint their client in the best light possible. This guy’s just fanning the flames - undoubtedly, a glimpse into what’s gone on behind the scenes for the past 10 years.
Ferris then adamantly denies that Marner was actively shopping for a house in Vegas before he was traded. Said it was completely untrue… right before suggesting it’s perfectly normal for players to ‘look around’ while they’re on the road.
Sounds a lot like the Vegas realtor who sang like a bird wasn’t lying, but Mitch wasn’t ready to buy because nothing was done. Yet.
Caps it off by trying to pin Mitch’s ultimate decision to leave - at least in large part - on Brad Treliving.
And scene.
Just unbelievable.
Everyone has their blind spots, but Christ… Darren Ferris misses the big picture entirely.
@APetrielli This might be leaf management knocking the ball to Matthews’ court telling him he’s out of the defensive zone and 50 goals is the expectation. Stop grovelling and start having explicit standards for Matthews.
@PuckPedia Is the only way to get engagement is to sh!t on the leafs? Like the Madman meme says, “I don’t even think of you.” That’s where the Marner discussion is now with Leaf fans. Move on for your own mental health.
@J_Swish24 Lad, you spend your time trolling leaf players and fans for engagement farming. If you want to play, don’t be letting a Jacques Strapp get you down. Chill.
@JustHockeyTakes Probably best the old front office was cleared out. As much as you’d like to blame corporate culture, it started from the executives previously running the team. Start with BS and move down the hierarchy.
The Atlantic division has every right to be furious here.
Montreal: +9
Detroit: +4
TB: Even
BUF: -4
FLA:-5
BOS: -6
OTT: -6
TOR: -6
That's a 15 game swing between MTL at the top and BOS/OTT/TOR at the bottom.
