Black people so funny. I’m in the checkout & the girl asked for my ID for the red wine. Why the man behind me bust out & said “that girl buying 2 roasts and potatoes, she old enough to drink”
the older you get the more you’ll realize that everything really is that deep. The people you confide in, trust, date, become friends with, the opportunities you take. What you watch & listen to. What you eat. & even what you consume mentally, emotionally, & spiritually.
Never internalize feedback that fundamentally makes you unsure of who you are. Yes, be teachable and always look out for ways to improve but understand that not everyone is qualified to provide you with the quality of feedback that’s relevant to your growth.
I have something slightly controversial to say: your dating experiences and decisions may do a full 180 if you stop consulting your friends for each and every decision, situation or text. you have all to gain by thinking for yourself, by yourself.
And when you pray tonight...pray for the ability to not be shaken by how people react. When you start something, not everyone will be for it. You need to keep going because you believe in it. They will catch up because some people will only support you once you’ve taken off.
