MY GCASH ACCOUNT GOT EMPTIED OUT. Someone withdrew from my account while my card was physically with me.

I wanted to handle this matter privately but my case has been going on for 8 months. A person who shared a similar case posted it to Facebook and got it resolved in 2 months.

January 1, 2026 on new years, I see back to back to back text messages stating someone withdrew from my account. The withdrawals were from an ATM located in Bukit Bintang, Malaysia which I visited in the first week of December 2025. I was already in the Philippines when the withdrawals happened, and my card in my pocket. I assumed it’s ATM skimming since I withdrew from an ATM in a convneience store in that area. (Lesson learned, I even thought I was cautious for checking the ATM for skimmers) I made sure to report it immediately. I even escalated it to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas which makes GCash reply quicker.

Two times, GCash has denied my refund stating that I was phished and they told me I gave out my details to someone even though the story doesnt line up to that. I assumed they did not investigate so I gave clear proof and they finally admitted it was ATM skimming. It has been 4 months at this point. A lot of back and forth emails being generic replies asking me to wait. I also make sure to call their support.

What happens is they tell me they’ll comtact within 24-48 hours and I would wait and receive no email or calls. Finally, on July they told me they are in the final stage of validation and I didnt have to do anything. I waited a month and checked. They already closed my ticket and seemed like they have forgotten about it. So I had to make a new ticket and contact their support team and to reopen the previous ticket. My BSP ticket was closed as well so had to reopen that. They decided that mediation is needed so I accepted but it has been two months and I have not received an update. I already called their office for a follow up and they reassured me that ai just have to wait. I made sure to follow up once in a while and I have received zero updates.

Two weeks ago, a person from GCash support told me to check my account within 3 to 5 business days if I see the reflection updated. I waited and did not receive it. They told me to contact them if I did not received it so I did. And now theyre telling me to be patient and they said they’re still reviewing it??? And now the last update is last week where they told me they are in the final stage of validation again and marked the ticket as handled…

Just frustrated. I thought I could handle this matter privately but after back and forth emails, messages, and calls throughout 8 months… it’s exhausting. It seems like a tactic where they hope you give up.
