I hate poverty with a quiet rage.
Poverty isn’t just about not having enough money. It slowly teaches people how to live smaller lives. It makes progress feel suspicious and success feel unsafe. You learn to keep your head down, not to stand out, not to reach too far.
Over time, it convinces people that good money can’t be made honestly, that anyone doing well must be crooked, lucky, or part of something shady. Hard work stops feeling like a path and starts feeling like a lie.
That’s why leaving poverty is never just financial. There’s a mental exit too, and it’s often the hardest part.
That’s why there’s a whole lot of insecure adults. They weren’t given basic respect as kids. Kids are one of the most oppressed people and everyone just calls them annoying.
And also this thing of downplaying other people’s excitement because you’ve had access for longer😭✋🏾 sana so what if umntu has saved the whole year for a DW watch or a flight for the first time? It’s big for them, uright wena ngoba ungcono angithi you can afford high end 🎉🥳
the girls are writing on substack, reading books again, limiting their screen time, making long-form videos analysing different topics and social issues, not taking shit, and looking better and better as they age.
parents are so crazy because they can say the most fucked up shit to you when your brain is forming and it sets the tone for your whole adult mind set and then they forget about it the next day
when i realised nobody knows what they're doing. it's idiots all the way up. you don't need permission, or qualifications, or expertise. you can literally just do things.
Apartheid was well engineered. Every law, policy, and institution designed to sustain inequality. That’s why reversing it demands deliberate effort, not slogans and empty rhetoric.
If Africans were inherently useless why was it so urgent and necessary to introduce Bantu Education and to prohibit them from attending the top universities in South Africa especially Stellenbosch, Rand Afrikaans , Pretoria, UFS, Wits , Natal, UCT , Rhodes etc?
Why was the Land Act, Stock Limitation Act and all the laws that prohibited non- Europeans from increasing their livestock or operating businesses in certain geographic areas in RSA?
Why was Job Reservation so necessary if Africans were inherently useless?
Why was there an Immorality Act preventing white women from having sexual relations with non- Europeans in RSA, if black men were inherentlyuseless?
Why was apartheid ever necessary if the non- Europeans could not inherently compete in the open markets with the so-called whites, why were all those restrictive laws ever so necessary?
