Half-and-half scarves. A thread…

Whatever the reasons behind West Ham’s decision to ban half-and-half scarves for Spurs game (security, safety etc) the scarves are an abomination anyway. If you want a souvenir of the game buy a match-day programme. Much cheaper, money goes to club, gives young writers and photographers a platform + info about the team and oppo etc. And something to read during VAR delays.

Some of the front covers of programmes are iconic. LFC especially in CL, old West Brom album ones and many others. West Ham themselves have won PL Programme of the Year twice in last 5 years. Programme sales sadly in overall decline. But they are worth fighting for.

🧵Nb not all half-and-half scarves are from unofficial sellers. Official merchandise, especially at internationals and for big European matches, are on sale. NB unofficial sellers insist unsold scarves are recycled. 🧵
