We are a federally chartered Indian organization, serving buffalo and indigenous people since 1992. We have 79 Member Tribes and a collective herd of 20,000.
Thanks to @ITBCBuffNation, 1,500+ buffalo have returned home to Indigenous communities this year (which is also their 30th anniversary)! TNC is proud to partner with ITBC to support their important mission, including a transfer from @Nachusa. #ITBC30#BuffaloBack 📸 Charles Larry
“Our goal and mission is to restore buffalo back to Indian country for that cultural and spiritual connection that Indigenous people have with the buffalo,” said the executive director of @ITBCBuffNation. https://t.co/gWEgOkAy7N

Thank you @NormaJTorres and @repdonyoung for your support of the Indian Buffalo Management Act! The future is bright for the Buffalo Nation and Indian Country!
I partnered with @RepDonYoung to introduce the Indian Buffalo Management Act & establish an @Interior program to support tribes in the conservation of buffalo.
To some tribal economies, bison are essential—and this bill will improve economic mobility for #indigenous communities.

Excited to share the success of the Fort Peck Tribes post-quarantine facility. Since 2018, the quarantine operations in Montana have saved over 200 Yellowstone buffalo from slaughter.
After 30 years, @ITBCBuffNation & the Ft. Peck & Assiniboine Sioux Tribes made history by transferring nearly 40 Yellowstone bison to 16 Native Nations -- a victory for Indian Country & bison conservation. Check back for a special film release on 11/30! 📽️ https://t.co/uv9YIPOkDT

“I think it’s important that we do the best we can to keep them safe because they’ve got a job to do and that’s to create that diversity within our herd” - Bryan Warner, Deputy Chief of the Cherokee Nation remarked @CherokeeNation#returnofthebuffalo#buffalonation#yellowstone
In case you missed it: The Cherokee Nation recently welcomed two bison bulls from Yellowstone to its herd in Delaware County through a partnership with @ITBCBuffNation.
Today, the tribe’s herd is made up of approximately 180 bison. Osda!
