@CurtisDaly_ Do you think that healthcare and housing are equally inelastic? Do you think inelasticity means you can ignore supply and demand or incentives? I'm genuinely glad you've learned the demand side critique but it's not an argument against the existence of a market
@captgouda24 This is true, but the facts of supply, demand and even conduct to a fair extent are considered objectively true and verifiably so in the field. Appeals to intuition on ethics are usually discrete and are trying to be trivial, because access to the domain is just more limited
@OswaldoHen58253@havivrettiggur Yeah I dunno I just do get the impression that for him he'd rather be consistent on his belief in secular govt than make an exception for islam
@havivrettiggur I just mean that American journalists are less likely to ask a Muslim/south Asian man to condemn Muslim countries for fear of coming off racist. My impression of Zohran is that he's a panderer but does have some principles. I respect you so your word is a strike against him.
@WhosOnFirst01@tilde_posting@lachlanp_ Yeah this already muddy's the relationship between input costs and price right? Even if input costs are high, if there isn't enough demand to fill a house at higher rents, the rent will need to drop. It's all to do with where the slack in the market is
@WhosOnFirst01@tilde_posting@lachlanp_ Landlords are constrained by what tenants are willing/able to pay. Tenants don't care if you're putting the rent up because it's your birthday or because there's a new tax, they'll move out if it's too much for them.
@doritenholm I'm personally not too whiny about it, but I don't resent those who are. It's a really hard thing to 'figure out'! I haven't tried whining yet but nothing else has worked so I'm thinking of starting
@goatmonty I think there's genuine overlap here. Legitimate sociopathy is rare, hurt and scored male egos are abundant. Men who are sensitive, low status and feel entitled are very likely to lash out at and blame anyone they can for their own suffering in a desperate bid for respect.
