It's been a quiet spell, but every now and then someone comes up with an idea so good I can't ignore it. Credit to @tweeth_mitchell for the spark on this little ditty about Ryo Hisatsune.
Is it a bit harsh on Ryo? Probably. But it comes from a place of love.

Why is the stock market shrugging off... everything? Well, maybe it's betting that AI will save it and that the government won't let AI fail. Call it the AI put.
My new piece in NYT Opinion about the market's reliance on getting rescued:

Many of the people I know my age are beyond disappointed in our government. It’s not even a left vs right thing. We’re tired of watching our leaders fail to pass power to the next generation and make decisions that serve only themselves. It’s an act of selfishness beyond compare.
This is just rambling nonsense. We’re in the middle of a war with a president who is emotionally unstable and seems to be having significant cognitive issues.
"Trump, the Mar-a-Lago golfer, is the only bull in the world who walks around with his own china shop. When a clown takes over the Palace, he doesn't become King. It's the Palace that becomes a circus"
French senator Claude Malhuret once again nails it. You won't hear a better indictment of Trump and his Gulf war than this. Well worth 5 minutes of your time

Going to war with a country, then immediately floating the idea of lifting sanctions on its oil to prevent your own economic collapse, is the definition of strategic failure
For the record, the president of the United States is now simultaneously claiming that he has won the war, is currently winning the war, needs help to win the war, and needs no help to win the war. All to destroy the nuclear program he claims to have already destroyed last year.
