I grew up in Coonoor and have a simple question: Was the proposed multi-level parking facility really for temple devotees, or was it meant to address Coonoor and Ooty's chronic tourist-season parking problem?
Ooty and Coonoor are among TN’s most popular tourist destinations. Every year, roads are packed during the summer season because of tourism, not because of a sudden pilgrimage rush.
If the parking project was genuinely for temple devotees, where is the data showing that temple traffic is the primary cause of congestion in Ooty and Coonoor?
The Nilgiris has many historic temples, but they are not among Tamil Nadu's major pilgrimage hubs that attract lakhs of devotees like Madurai, Kanchipuram, or Rameswaram.
Why should temple funds be used for a project whose primary beneficiaries are likely to be tourists, commercial establishments, and general visitors?
How many temples in the Nilgiris still lack basic infrastructure such as proper lighting, restrooms, maintenance, heritage restoration, and devotee amenities?
Should temple funds first improve the condition of temples themselves before being diverted to broader civic infrastructure projects?
If the objective was urban traffic management and tourism infrastructure, shouldn't those projects be funded through tourism, municipal, or state infrastructure budgets rather than temple resources?
Simply saying there are "many temples" in an area does not automatically make every parking project a temple project.
Anyone familiar with the hills knows that tourism has always been the dominant factor behind seasonal congestion.
Minister @RameshOffcl’s argument makes perfect sense. First use the temple funds on infrastructure such as toilets, lighting, maintenance and restoration instead of a multi level car parking.

This is so depressing to watch...
No sense of responsibility or civic ownership among the masses, and total apathy among those responsible for cleanliness.
What's worse is that it's become so normalized that people still hang out and have fun amid this filth.
Imagine lying inside a cancer hospital after chemotherapy & outside, people are blasting songs at full volume because their favorite actor has a birthday. Hospitals are legally designated silence zones. DISGUSTING

If ruling party members who violate the norms regarding posters and banners are pulled up by the party or the government, no one else - be it other political parties, celebrities, film stars, or private organisations - would have the courage to spoil the city and make it ugly with posters and banners.
If the rules are strictly applicable to ruling party members, no one else can claim exemption.

When the Chief Minister is sincerely focused on making cities clean and rebuilding civic infrastructure, his own party members should not obstruct his efforts.
The real way to celebrate a leader is by following what he says, not by pasting his posters.
I don't know who ECR Saravanan is, but I see complaints all over social media that he and his supporters are pasting posters in many places across Chennai for the Chief Minister's birthday tomorrow.

Dear @CMOTamilnadu Anna,
I’d like to bring to your attention that there has been too many posters and banners across the Sholingnallur constituency even after repeated attempts to question it by so many and directive from the party.
Sholinganalur is one of the biggest constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in the heart of Chennai and has so many issues including improper waste management.
The constituency MLA seems to be busy with putting up more posters, conducting stage shows and putting up live on instagram but there is nothing concrete with respect to development.
Online presence is okay but work comes above all of this. Before this gets big, kindly issue appropriate directives and measure to correct this action. The aim of becoming an international city is silently damaged by some of these incidents.
This does not require any funds or consultation. Kindly look into this seriously. Posters and banners must be banned with immediate effect whole of Tamil Nadu.
This will be a real CHANGE if you can sort this out.

🚨 New Perungalathur Bypass Turning Into a Garbage Dump?
A vacant patch along the new bypass road near New Perungalathur is steadily turning into a garbage dump as Nedungundram Panchayat uses it for waste disposal, citing a lack of alternatives. The site is now attracting secondary dumping by individuals and private entities.
Residents urge stricter in-situ waste management and source segregation to prevent the dump from growing further.
