Itombwe Conservation is dedicated to the belief that the future of wildlife is dependent upon a symbiotic relationship between it and it's co-dwelling humans.
This blog post goes into detail about the Eastern Lowland Gorilla (Only 5,000 left) and its close cousin the "Mountain Gorilla" (Only 1060 left), and where to find each creature should you ever venture near their habitat.

There is only 5,000 left! That's 500 poachers only killing 10 Eastern Lowland Gorillas each. More numerous than their endangered cousins - the Mountain Gorillas. Perhaps the wrong animals are being killed.

Who are we? We believe community must come together with a common goal to protect/preserve its environment. Unlike many other conservation efforts, our approach doesn't treat the needs of the people as secondary as it is the people we must count on.

A mist grows thicker around this species as they are becoming harder and harder to find. Perhaps a future caption with this image will soon read, "R.I.P Eastern Lowland Gorilla".
