Students at Columbia University received a public safety alert saying the 116th St subway station was being skipped "due to demonstration activity" a few minutes ago. An MTA representative told me the agency had no record of any such service disruption.
My arms are a little short to photograph over Columbia's window ledges. But the protest is pretty big. Chants of "Viva! Viva! Palestina" are echoing across a pretty quiet campus. There's a smaller counter protest sporting Israeli flags, an NYPD barrier between them.
