A former Japanese official who was personally involved in the Mumbai Ahmedabad Shinkansen project has expressed deep anguish over its setbacks.
He criticises the Indian side’s repeated recklessness, breaking promises, flipping positions at the last minute, and prioritising self interest till the end.
He notes that even the minister in charge was particularly difficult, making decent negotiations nearly impossible.
Despite Japanese teams pouring their hearts into the project, he is 100% convinced that the lack of progress is entirely on the Indian side.
Prime Minister Takaichi’s recent visit also yielded no breakthrough. Japan has now been excluded from the signal system, the critical safety backbone, according to Toyo Keizai Online.
This is profoundly disappointing for a flagship India Japan collaboration. Reliable execution and keeping commitments are essential if we want such high impact infrastructure projects to succeed.
Deeply saddened by the passing of S. Janaki ji, the Nightingale of South India.
For generations of Indians, her voice was the soundtrack of love, devotion, joy and longing. Performing in multiple languages with extraordinary grace, she united people across regions through the universal language of music.
My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and millions of admirers.
Humble tributes to Bharat Ratna Thiru K. Kamaraj on his birth anniversary.
A visionary leader who dedicated his life to uplifting the marginalised and securing their dignity and rights. His legacy of social justice and selfless public service will always be remembered.

#ChhatronKiGoonj
Thank you. This genuinely makes me feel like I had a small impact.
Which is what journalism is and should be.
The scrutiny of me and my «character» was worth it if the conversation about press freedom continues.
Mumbai had a Redlight Area where exploited women were forced into selling themselves. It was called Kamathipura. Now the trade in bodies has shifted to Vidhanbhavan where elected representatives sell themselves to those in power at an hourly rate.
So, @raghav_chadha met a host of YouTubers, Instagram influencers, and people who frequently appear in scripted interviews posing as members of the audience. Many of them are known for running paid content and vox-pop videos that target Muslims and Dalits. One glance at their social media accounts will tell you the content they run.
How many of them can you recognise?
@rinse_kurian So there was something wrong since April -2026 onwards . Something was missing and its continuation of that and I don’t think in 2 months a govt can do something drastically in their Electricity purchase and its distribution .Yes now the accountability on the people in power .
