What timing today is. PSA news and Game 6 of SAS/OKC.

To me, every card has a different purpose. Some are meant to be flipped right away. Some are meant to be sat on and strike if/when it gets hot. Some you're just gonna lose on. Some you're gonna profit so much on. Those are the unicorns and should not rely on those to come so often.

Before this card, my biggest return on a card was on the Brock Purdy Prizm White Sparkle PSA 10 that I sold for $7000. I bought it at WCCS 2023 as a BGS 9 for $2200, cracked it, sent it to PSA and got the gem. My profit was about $5700 after grading fees. A unicorn type play - doesn't happen often.

It was a big boost in my hobby career if you will. Gave me a lot of extra cash flow to do things like experiment more into certain plays and just your normal buy to flip.

Fast forward to today, this Wemby card. I bought it raw for $1550 from a good friend who I have been doing lots of business with in the past 2 years @zekesportscards (give him a follow if you aren't already!)

I expected it to gem but you just never know - you expect the worst and pray for the best. Amazing timing cause it gemmed the day they made the WCF, IIRC. And there was a true gold /50 PSA 9 of the same card/year that was on auction and ending a couple days after. That card ended at $11,501.

I sent it Regular and I got the upcharge email of $149 for it which is the next tier of Express.

I put a poll asking which card people preferred - Sapphire Gold /50 PSA 10 or True Gold /50 PSA 9. Surprisingly, it was pretty split. People want the 10 but people want the true. People like the image of the cracked ice look as well.

Ended up selling it to @levysmith (give him a follow as well! - lots of heat he has) for $10,500 and making my profit on the card about $8800.

People/trolls ask me "why not hold the card since they are still playing? It can keep going up!" and while that's true, it can easily go down as well.

There are some quotes or just overall statements I think about daily that I've come across doing this for 7 years now:

- Cannot go broke making a profit
- All it takes is one buyer - the rest doesn't matter
- Rather sell too early than too late
- Don't squeeze out every dollar you can, especially when you're already up

There's def other quotes/statements I can't think of right now but you should get the idea. JUST DON'T GREED. Cash flow is important and taking the W earlier than later.

Now some of you will think "Why is John typing this essay?" and here's why. To trigger the grifters on this app but also to help inspire/educate those who choose to take it that way. Mostly do this for my own record, to look back on, because back when I started this in 2020, no way would I have believed if you told me that I'm doing what I'm doing today. And it's not like I get paid on this app or any other lol. You can do plays like this but I can’t have the exact answer as to what but do your research, stick to your gut and need some luck as that doesn’t hurt!

Celebrate people's wins. You can see it as a flex and you can see it negatively but that's ultimately on YOU. Don't follow me or don't choose to react to my post if you don't like it - that is simple but I know the miserable people can't help it too lol. I’m at a point in my life that if you bring no value to me, we can just cut ties. Value means many things too.

Celebrate wins. Encourage people if that's what they need. Help educate if that's what they seek based on your experiences, albeit each situation is different at the same time.

Timing is something we never know of but as they say, luck favors the bold. Take a risk - you don't know until you try. You're not gonna hit every time but when you hit, sometimes it's big!

PSA is still the way to maximize a card's potential - don't let others tell you otherwise. I'm sure there's outliers but generally speaking.
