Speaking specifically to pass situations, it’s rare for an offense to slide to a nose v a 3T in a 4 down front. Whether Dex played Nose or 3… he’d be getting the slide on 3rd down. And for guys like Dex, even if you were technically ‘supposed’ to slide away… that Center would hold space/ post on Dex with eyes to the 3T for late help to the slide side guard. For guys like Dex, it’s not a matter of if he will win the rush, it’s when. “Die slow” is the coaching point against him.
