A single Facebook comment made in a moment of anger has put 24-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu engineer Anujan Sivarasa on death row in Saudi Arabia. Unable to bear seeing the god he worships being insulted online, he lost his temper and replied, a mistake that could now cost him his life.
In June, a video went viral showing a Muslim youth kicking Subramani, a dog walking with devotees on the Kataragama Murugan temple pilgrimage. In the online arguments that followed, some people started making vulgar remarks insulting Lord Shiva.
Hurt and provoked, Anujan replied with a comment in Tamil about the Prophet. However, he realized his mistake within minutes, deleted the comment and even posted a public video apologizing for it.
Despite this, extremists in Sri Lanka took a screenshot of his deleted comment, translated it into Arabic and emailed it to his employer in Saudi Arabia to report him. Arrested in July, he was first given 5 years in prison and fined around ₹6.5 crore. But after the prosecution appealed, he was sentenced to death on September 17.
Anujan has been beaten and injured by fellow inmates in prison, and his family hasn't heard from him since September 28, when all phone contact was cut off. His family is living in constant fear. His mother Yogalakshmi's tearful plea to pardon her son and send him back home breaks the heart.
Amnesty International has demanded that this death sentence be cancelled. The final deadline to appeal is October 17 2026, leaving just a few days in hand!
Giving the death penalty to a 24-year-old who immediately realized his mistake and apologized is deeply cruel. Let us raise our voices before the October 17 deadline to save a Tamil life!

As Sri Lankans, we stand together, regardless of our religion or ethnicity. We humbly appeal to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to kindly consider granting a pardon to our fellow Sri Lankan, Sivarasa Anojan, on humanitarian grounds.

#SaveAnojanSivarada 🥲 In Saudi Arabia, Anojan Sivarasa, a 24-year-old Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu migrant worker is facing a death sentence in Saudi Arabia after posting a comment on Facebook insulting the Prophet Muhammad. But first, the Muslim guy insulted a Hindu god first, and then he retaliated after that. He was initially supposed to get 5 years in prison but then they decide to adhere to the strict Sharia Law, now he's on death row. It's very dangerous in Islamic countries, best to stay the hell out of Islamic countries. This man needs help and we need to get the word out and help this man.
Please, do not stay silent for Anojan
Pray for him, stand with him, and help his story be heard
Raise your voice for Anojan Sivarasa

A stray dog had begun following Hindu pilgrims during the Kataragama Pada Yatra in Sri Lanka. Videos of the dog travelling with the pilgrims were widely shared and warmly received in Hindu circles.
Then a video appeared showing a man kicking the dog. It triggered anger online and led to an argument on social media.
During that argument, religious insults were exchanged. A Sri Lankan man named Sivarasa Anojan, who was working in Saudi Arabia, responded to a derogatory remark about Hinduism with a comment that was allegedly insulting to the Prophet.
Later, he deleted his comment and recorded an apology, explaining that he had reacted after seeing an insult against his own religion.
But someone had already taken a screenshot.
According to his family, the screenshot was sent to his employer in Saudi Arabia. The employer reported the matter to the authorities.
Sivarasa Anojan was arrested.
He was initially sentenced to 5 years in prison and fined 3 million Saudi riyals. The prosecution appealed. The case was then reconsidered under Saudi Arabia's Sharia-based legal framework, and the punishment was increased to death.
He is now facing a death sentence.
He responded to an insult against his faith, deleted his comment, and apologized.
Yet the person who first insulted Hinduism and made derogatory remarks faced no punishment, while Sivarasa Anojan ended up facing a death sentence.
So, insult one religion, face no consequences. Speak up in response, pay with your life. Apparently, that’s justice.
A dog used to follow pilgrims to a Hindu religious site in Sri Lanka, and videos of it were shared warmly in Sri Lankan Hindu circles.
In late June, offended by the videos, a Muslim man went to the pilgrimage site, located the dog, kicked it, and uploaded the video, sparking outrage. During one such argument, a Sri Lankan Muslim wrote a derogatory post against the Hindu deity.
Anojan Sivarasa, a Sri Lankan Hindu working as a laborer in Saudi Arabia, didn't like the comment and responded with a reply that was allegedly derogatory to the Prophet.
Anojan's well-wisher immediately warned him. He took down the comment and issued a video apology within five minutes in which he said he was responding to an insult to his faith. However, it was too late. Anojan's fellow Sri Lankan Muslims had already taken a screenshot and emailed it to his employer in Saudi Arabia. His employer promptly reported it to the authorities, who arrested Anojan and put him on trial. He has been sentenced to death.
Saudi Arabia rarely reverses a decision once it has made one, but there should be global outrage over this. Blasphemy laws or whatever, the man was only responding to an insult to his faith, deleted the comment, and issued an apology within minutes, yet he will still have to pay with his life while those who provoked him are rejoicing in Sri Lanka. This is unacceptable. Anyone calling themselves a free speech supporter and not opposing this is a hypocrite of the highest order.

There is a reason no political party exists for GCs. There is a reason no politician speaks for GCs. Because we keep fighting among ourselves.
We have a much bigger battle to fight. We need to rise above our personal differences and focus on the policies that affect us. Disagreement is fine, but turning on people who are fighting for the same broader cause weakens the movement.
Instead of targeting @neha_laldas, we should be questioning the policymakers responsible for these decisions. Our energy should be directed at the policies and those responsible for them- not at each other.
Remember, United we stand, divided we fall.

THREE WEEKS IN JAIL
TWO YEARS OF TRAUMA
A RAPE THAT NEVER HAPPENED
A Talented Cricketer - 27 year old Shivvalik Sharma did not know that saying NO to a marriage alliance will get him the tag of a RAPIST in India
He got engaged to a woman he was in relationship with. Then came the IPL selection & he looked like a golden goose to his would be and her family. Expensive demands for the wedding, unreal expectations, straight ask for 50 Lacs
Despite an engagement which proved that he had all the intentions of marrying the woman, she cried Rape on false promise of marriage and Shivvalik was immediately ARRESTED
RAJASTHAN HIGH COURT HAS NOW QUASHED THE CASE
It observed that the relationship between the two was totally consensual, chats showed their deteriorating relationship post his IPL selection and also several financial transactions from his side. Court said breaking down of an alliance can not be given color of Rape
However, barely any media houses have covered his innocence. A google search will show how thousands of articles still talk about the rape case on him and his arrest but only two or three media houses have covered the judgment clearing him of all charges
No consequence whatsoever for the woman who cried Rape just to take revenge for a broken alliance
His family went through such bad times after this case but today when they're cleared, no one wants to talk about the pain of a #falserape accusation
Requesting media friends here to look at the quashing of the case and atleast give him some justice
Sambhav Jain is not the only one !!!
Countless men are suffering in India today because of extreme demands by wife and her family when a marriage breaks down
There is literally ZERO RECOURSE for a man and his family if his marriage breaks down and his wife is hell bent on ruining his life
Entire family is implicated in dowry, DV, maintenance cases and they have to do rounds of courts every month, many times in far off cities as wife files cases from her home town. Elderly parents are also dragged along no matter if they never even stayed with the couple
Men in their 30's, 40's are being forced to shell out 50 Lacs, 1 Crore, 2 crore in Alimony settlements - as if money grows on trees for men and their families
Courts are happily encouraging such settlements. Infact courts are siding with women for such settlements. Open bargaining is happening in our courts and every mediation centre has talks of money in 95% cases.
On top of all this, just so many men are like walking deads because they don't get to even see their child in divorce disputes and our courts don't really care. It takes minimum six months for a father to even get a glimpse of his child if wife leaves and doesn't want to come back.
I sometimes am in awe seeing the patience and resilience these men have. I cannot even fathom the pain they carry in their heart 💔
