US Judge Accepts DOJ Request to Dismiss Criminal Case Against Adani

The Department of Justice argued that continuing the prosecution no longer served the interests of justice, citing jurisdictional and evidentiary challenges along with the predominantly Indian nature of the alleged conduct.

The court accepted the request and permanently dismissed the criminal charges against Gautam Adani.

Not a social media campaign. Not a change of narrative.

Execution.

Ports continued handling cargo. Airports continued serving millions. Power infrastructure continued supplying energy. New projects continued coming online. Cash flows remained robust and financial commitments were honoured.

This DOJ dismissal was not waved through. It was tested. Judge Nicholas Garaufis refused to simply accept the DOJ's motion. He ordered the Department to explain its reasoning in public, on the record.

He demanded sworn declarations confirming there was no promise, no offer, no quid pro quo and no undisclosed agreement of any kind behind the request.

Only after examining those sworn submissions, and after stating that he was satisfied the Group's proposed U.S. investment did not influence the Department's decision, did the Court grant the motion. The case ended under scrutiny, not around it.
