Aryama Deepti, an agriculture department officer posted in the Athmagola block of Bakhtiyarpur suddenly went missing just 23 days after her marriage.

• Her husband, Shubham Kumar, a CA by profession, filed an FIR at the Bakhtiyarpur police station.

• According to him, he had dropped his wife off at the office that day as usual. There was no quarrel or unusual conversation. Contact was maintained until the afternoon, but by evening, her mobile phone was switched off.

• The news of her disappearance, just 23 days after her wedding, devastated her family. 

• However, with the help of CCTV footage, CDR and other technical evidence, police recovered Aryama Deepti after 36 hours from Chapra and as per sources, she was found with a man, suspected to be her lover.

• As per investigation, Aryama didn't go to office the day she went missing. She was seen with a man in the CCTV footage.

• Aryama Deepti clsimedy in her statement that she didn't go missing but went to surprise a friend of her, on her birthday.

• After the questioning was over, Aryama still didn't go to her in-laws' house and her in-laws couldn't establish any contact with her once again.

• Later they came to know that she went to her sister's house.

• Aryama's husband and in-laws are suspecting that she is in a relationship with another man and hence avoiding her husband.

The Delhi High Court has ruled that a husband cannot claim exclusive ownership of a property jointly held by both the spouses, merely on the ground that he alone paid the EMIs.

As per the court, once the property stands in the joint names of the spouses, the husband cannot be permitted to claim exclusive ownership merely on the ground that he alone provided the purchase consideration.

Such a plea would contravene Section 4 of the Benami Act, which imposes an absolute bar against the enforcement of rights in respect of property held benami.

Today marks one year since Atul Subhash’s death:

Wife got bail within 30 days and is still with Accenture.

Wife got custody of their son. Court rejected Atul’s mother’s custody plea, calling her “a stranger to the child.”

No inquiry against Judge Rita Kaushik; she was promoted to District Judge instead.

The abetment case is adjourned for a year, showing the system’s priority.

The system he hoped would change after his death stayed exactly the same.

So far, none of the last wishes he expressed in his video have materialised. And this is precisely why men facing similar harassment must hear this: do not take the step Atul took. His absence has not eased the burden on his father, mother, or brother. His son will grow up entirely shaped by the environment of his mother’s family, with their narrative becoming the only version he knows. The legal system has not shifted, the laws have not changed, and the machinery he hoped would respond has remained unmoved.
