Wolfenstein: The New Order, Review!
A fast-paced FPS with an alternate-history setting, playing as B.J. Blazkowicz, a soldier who wakes up after years of being out of action, only to find his country has surrendered.
๐ง Thoughts:
After around 11 hours, I honestly didn't expect The New Order to have this much story. Beneath all the shooting, there's a surprisingly personal story about B.J., his relationships, his past, and the people fighting alongside him.
It's quite linear, but the combination of great gunplay, an interesting setting, memorable characters, and a surprisingly emotional story makes it a really enjoyable FPS.
The alternate-history setting is also one of the game's strongest aspects. Seeing a world where the enemy won the war creates some really interesting environments and details, from the technology and architecture to everyday life.
And the gameplay? It's just fun.
โCons:
Only one weapon for each category.
I hate the weapon-switching system that locks your movement and view.
Some enemies have tough armor, so you need to adjust your strategy if you're used to easily taking down enemies in other FPS games.
โ Pros:
The story is surprisingly good and much more emotional than I expected.
Blazkowicz and Anya, simp.
Fast, brutal, and satisfying gunplay.
Love the dual-wielding weapons.
The alternate-history setting is really interesting, LOL.
Memorable resistance members.
