What a way to misread the room 🤣 We weren’t booing at a teenager being replaced by our most expensive signing. We were booing at one of the best attacking threats we’ve got being taken off while Gakpo strolls round the place, seemingly untouchable regardless of how poor he is.
On the face of it, Anfield — or at least, a large number of Liverpool supporters inside the stadium — heckled the substitution of a teenager for a £125m striker on Saturday.
The boos were louder still at the final whistle.
The reaction to Rio Ngumoha's withdrawal was the first time one of Arne Slot’s decisions has been barracked with the outcome still in the balance.
But, while booing does not happen at Liverpool very often, it is not the first time it has erupted this season.

Am I the only one that thinks these handballs in the Champions League are justified? I’d be screaming for that if it was against us. You can’t stop the ball with your hand 😂
My TV is in real danger of having my foot put through it if I see another shite performance from Gakpo at the weekend, only for the camera to show this lifeless close-up of him. Fucking gorm.
We started so well. Half an hour in, we had no shots on target and 20+% possession. It want bad performance, but this didn’t happen under Klopp. Anfield should be a fortress and Slot has made it a playground.
I honestly think this difference in mentality is a big reason why we’re in the state we’re in. Most of those players that played under Klopp would walk through walls for him, and Klopp would do the same for the club. I can’t see that from Slot.
"Do YOU have confidence in YOUR own ability to turn it around?"
"Yeah yeah yeah absolutely."
"Can you restore belief within the fanbase?"
"Well I won your second title in 30 years."
Day and night difference ffs.
Imagine being Rio Ngumoha and having to watch Cody Gakpo do the same old shit every week and always starting ahead of you. The least inspiring footballer I’ve seen for a long long time, but he gets a game cause he’s Dutch. Fuck off.
It’s like fucking Groundhog Day watching Liverpool at the moment. This move on repeat. At around 70 mins, there’s the LB/RB sub and Chiesa on. Inevitably Wirtz coming off even though he’s been the most creative player. Then give Rio 4 minutes to work miracles.
Doesn’t excuse certain players having shockers, or the loyalty to players who should be getting benched. It just wasn’t as bad as people are making out.
If these go in and we win, absolutely no one talks about it as “one of the worst Liverpool performances I’ve seen”. Some fans don’t half know how to overreact 😂
