Just had a new one installed on my roof (California) it’s for better performance the hot air that comes out goes into the sky and not ground level which can make it not as efficient. Reduced noice in your house (our old one was under a window very loud and we can feel the hot air coming out) also less prone to getting clogged up with debris.
