The resignation of the Education Minister is an acknowledgment that accountability in a democracy cannot be indefinitely evaded. It comes after weeks of determined, peaceful voices raised by students, parents and citizens across the country who refused to be ignored.

It also comes after far too many young Indians faced unnecessary police brutality and force for exercising their democratic right to peaceful protest. That should concern every citizen, regardless of political affiliation.

But accountability does not end with a resignation. The deeper failures that brought us here must now be addressed through transparent reforms, institutional responsibility and a commitment to ensuring that no young Indian’s future is jeopardised again.

The students who marched, spoke out and peacefully persisted deserve to know that this is the beginning of reform, not the end of the story.

It was such a peaceful movement, feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt. Paper leak is a very serious issue, and I am glad to know n see that the kids of our country have come together for a better educational system, and their parents supported them.

I truly appreciate the stand they have taken, showing dedication, sincerity, and keenness to study hard n make their future and a greater, educated India. This andolan, this protest, is the right way to go abt it, n the students have done this peacefully. So courageous and brave. Driven and motivated towards education, this generation will make India proud.

This issue is between the students and the educational system, it should not be hijacked politically, the credit should only go to the students of our country, and I am sure the government will also give them all the support n make it a stronger educational system. JUST IN | Massive crowds several thousands strong gathered at Jantar Mantar as mobile internet was shut down in parts of central Delhi. Protesters have had sporadic clashes with authorities according to emerging visuals. Even as security forces tried to hold the crowds at bay, people gathered in batches of hundreds at the Jantar Mantar protest area and crowded Tolstoy Marg on the north end of the protest strip. CJP leaders appealed to protesters to demonstrate peacefully. "India's youth have shown that they're not like the Gen Z of other countries," Gitanjali J. Angmo, activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife said from the protest site's stage. The speakers' remarks are inaudible beyond just a hundred metres from the protest stage, as chanting crowds drown out instructions from protest leaders and security forces' loudspeakers alike. Crowds spilled in and out from a narrow entry point at Janpath, where traffic has been heavily restricted.
