Agree with Silva on this, unfortunately. Emotions aside - and there are always strong emotions when big ex-players are involved - but there have been substantial issues for a while now.

Carrick has done a very decent job, and his results have truly been excellent.

He steadied the ship with plenty of common sense fixes & better player platforming. But if you watch the games, there are clear signs he might not be the best long-term solution.

The two are not mutually exclusive. We can praise Carrick for the caretaker job while remaining wary about the future.

To be clear, there are mitigating factors:
- taking over mid-season
- squad gaps: limited LW options that offer width and pace (only Dorgu), no playmaking DM, etc.
- numerous seasons spent on drilling very flawed game models

But United need to aim for the best manager available, with experience from Top 5 leaguex, tactical ideas to compete with the best minds in PL.

Palace easily manipulated our OOP structure, whether we pressed or sat off.

I respect it but this is bad news for us.

If he stays, he’ll play as a 6. That means another poor soul will get all the hate because our midfield will be inexistent from Bruno’s awful positional and tactical discipline.

Casemiro hated, Ugarte hated, Mainoo doesn’t even get to start there anymore and a new midfielder will get hated within months while people will completely ignore the root cause of the issue because ‘he creates chances’.
