PEMBROKE VS. GREATER LAWRENCE: SOFTBALL
Greater Lawrence 7 Pembroke 5 (MIAA Massachusetts State Tournament)
May 29, 2026. Greater Lawrence defeated Pembroke 7-5 in preliminary game of the MIAA Massachusetts State Tournament. Greater Lawrence Samantha Nasella was a difference maker with a standout overall performance. Samantha Nasella hit a go-ahead 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and had 3 hits (home run, 2 singles) scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs at bat and in the circle, she pitched a strong game allowing only 4 hits and striking out 11 batters to earn the win. Olivia Erban was perfect at bat as she went 4 for 4 including a 2-run home run, 3 singles and 3 RBIs. Hilarys Sanchez had 1 RBI.

Pembroke’s Jaelyn Resil led the Titans at bat as she reached base on all 4 plate appearances with 2 hits (double, single) 2 walks and scored 3 runs. Elizabeth McPhee hit a 2 run inside the park home run. Grace Baker had 1 hit (single) and 1 RBI. Jaelyn Resil and Kathryn McPhee each had a strong game on defense making several plays for outs.

Game Scoring: Pembroke scored 1 run in the bottom of the first inning when Jaelyn Resil scored for the Titans via a fielding error by Greater Lawrence. In the bottom of the second inning Pembroke’s Elizabeth McPhee hit a deep ball to the right field corner and raced around the bases untouched as she hit an inside the park home run scoring 2 runs for a Pembroke 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the third inning Pembroke scored 1 run to extend the lead to 4-0 when Grace Baker hit into a fielder’s choice which scored Jaelyn Resil for 1 run. Greater Lawrence scored 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the score Pembroke 4 Greater Lawrence 2. Greater Lawrence Olivia Erban singled, which scored a run and later scored a run on a ball hit to right field by Hilarys Sanchez for an out scored a runner tagging up from third base. Greater Lawrence rallied to score 5 runs to take a 7-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning on a 3-run home run by Samantha Nasella over the left field fence and a 2-run home run over the center field fence by Olivia Erban. Pembroke scored 1 run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Amanda Graham hit a grounder that scored Jaelyn Resil to make the score Greater Lawrence 7 Pembroke 5.

Home Runs: Greater Lawrence Samantha Nasella hit a 3-run home run over the left field fence. Greater Lawrence Olivia Erban hit a 2-run home run over the center field fence.
Pembroke's Elizabeth McPhee hit a 2-run inside the park home run.

Highlight Defensive Plays: Pembroke’s shortstop Jaelyn Resil fired a perfect throw to catcher Alexis Levy who tagged out a runner attempting to score at home plate for the third out of the third inning and held Greater Lawrence scoreless. Pembroke pitcher Grace Baker fielded a hard chop grounder and then threw the ball to third base for a fielder’s choice out in the fourth inning. Both Pembroke and Greater Lawrence converted a double play in the game on defense.

Tough loss yesterday to end our season. I reached base all 4 times going 2-2, double, single, 2 walks, 3 runs scored. Also contributed on defense throwing a runner out at home. Super proud of my team for the way we finished the season against very tough competition. We were awarded the #32 seed in the state tourney and a home game for preliminary round. May 13, 2026. Pembroke defeated Hanover in 9 innings 3-2. Pembroke’s Kathryn McPhee hit a sacrifice fly that scored Lilliana Mannon in the bottom of the ninth inning to break and tie 2-2 and win the game in extra innings. Kathryn McPhee had 2 RBIs and 1 hit (single). Jaelyn Resil reached base 3 times with 1 hit (single) 2 walks. Emma Jones had 2 hits (singles) and 1 RBI. Elizabeth McPhee had 2 hits (double, single). Pitcher Grace Baker pitched all 9 innings and struck out 12 batters to earn the win in the circle.

Hanover’s Abigail Keddy had a triple, walk and 1 RBI.

Pembroke is now (8-8) in 2026.
