Gaithersburg High School Student Arrested After Loaded Handgun Found on Campus 🚨
A 17-year-old student at Gaithersburg High School has been arrested this morning after police discovered a loaded handgun inside the student’s backpack on school property.
Officers from the Gaithersburg Police Department responded to the school around 9:15am today after receiving a report of a possible weapons offense on campus.
School administrators said they were alerted by an anonymous community tip claiming that a student was carrying a handgun at the school.
Police said a search of the suspect’s backpack uncovered a loaded .40-caliber Glock handgun equipped with an extended magazine. The Glock also had an obliterated serial number.
The student was taken into custody and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he was charged as an adult with multiple offenses, including dangerous weapon on school property, handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, minor in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
