@Shaktirupen Personally, Navratri has always been the most exuberant time of the year for me 🙏🏻 May devi bring health, wealth and spiritual guidance to one and all!
@Bharatiyan108 The man has done nothing but good for the past 3 decades and more. He could just sit back and chill at this age, giving gyan to the people around him. But no, he made the “mistake” of taking on difficult things and trying to make changes for the well-being of humanity!
I was freaking out until my friend - who was part of one of the groups to Kailash - messaged saying she was fine.
Those few minutes before that were pure terror.
And it made me realise something super uncomfortable.
When something terrible happens to people we do not know, we genuinely feel bad. We say, “This is horrible.” We read the news, watch the videos, talk about it, feel disturbed… and then, somehow, continue with our day.
But the moment there is even a possibility that someone you love might be there, the same event becomes completely different.
Suddenly it is not news.
It is fear in your stomach. Hands shaking with fear. Your mind is completely blank and buzzing at the same time. Tears rolling down - thinking the worst. Rechecking your phone. Waiting for that one message. One confirmation that they are okay.
And when that message finally came, the relief was overwhelming.
But almost immediately, I felt guilty.
Because there are people for whom that message will never come.
There are families right now experiencing exactly the terror I felt for those few minutes, except their worst fear may actually have become real.
Why does the human mind need someone to be “mine” before suffering becomes this visceral?
Why can I intellectually understand another person’s pain, even sincerely feel terrible for them, and yet experience it so differently when it touches someone I love?
That difference in us is just so cruel.
Maybe this is what makes empathy so difficult. We know every stranger is somebody’s daughter, husband, mother, friend. But most of the time, we know it only as an idea.
For a few minutes today, I felt that, and it was truly terrifying.

@ManiYogini After watching Odyssey, I was thinking how fortunate we are to be born in an era where women have far more safety and security than in those times. And then I read this thread - goosebumps! What incredible women ❤️
