This point dropped a week before the end of 8th grade. This was an essential part of the summer soundtrack that summer. This, โLoungin (remix)โ and โElevatorsโ
@Slackonbothsydz I feel like people overlook that. Yes, Kurtis Blow came out first and had success. He was a star. LL was a legitimate SUPERSTAR when at that time being a billed as a solo artist wasnโt the blueprint for success. He doesnโt get enough credit for that IMO.
Peabo Bryson, the legendary voice behind "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," has died at 75.
Rest in power to one of R&B's greatest balladeers ๐๏ธ
Legendary career. โTheme From The Planetsโ was so dope both Wiz and Stalley had hits off of mixtapes with that sample. May he Rest In Power. ๐๐พ
@etbowser I think Iโm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I loved and still love Brown Sugar. But Voodoo changed me. I didnโt connect with another album like that until TPAB.
@brandonousley I canโt even get over he fact someone thought they could compare these two albums. The only thing they have that makes them close is that they were both released in 2000. Thatโs it.
BTW, Voodoo by a landslide.
Jodeci released 'Forever My Lady' 35 years ago today ๐ฟ
DeVante Swing to VIBE in 1995: "There are only two powers: us and Boyz II Men. Anybody that comes after us has to be classified as like one or the other."
The World Cups between the ages of 8 and 16 will always be the best in your head. Any younger you don't truly understand it yet and any older the magic goes out them.

My dad retired at 59
I will not
He had a pension. I have a 401k I can barely fund.
He bought his house at 28.
I can't touch a down payment at 30.
He paid $90 a month for health insurance. I pay $430.
At dinner he told me I need to be smarter with money.
I nodded.
Didn't tell him his entire life was built on an economy that no longer exists.
Didn't tell him my generation is paying for his Social Security while ours gets gutted.
Didn't tell him the ladder he climbed got pulled up right after him.
Just passed the potatoes.
Make it make sense
@brandonousley I did a review of this album on my podcast and I effigies this sentiment. Truly a masterpiece and if this was going to be the last one, it was a good one to go out on, but one that makes us wonder what they could have done with 20 more years of musical cohesion.
Tony! Toni! Tonรฉ! set the bar so high with House of Music and then split. Still stands up as one of the finest R&B/soul albums of the last 30 years.
