What have we become?
A parliament with a petri dish of policies to aid the super rich to the detriment of all else?
#MondayMotivation
The majority of the super rich not only want MORE, they also want you to have LESS.
The two are different things but they have come together in a perfect STORM right now to confuse and divide us even more.
So those opposing immigration (who aren't super rich) argue that we need to look after our own first, without questioning who (this cruel and corrupt Tory govt) is the real cause of the increasing and heartbreaking problems of homelessness, poverty, NHS crisis and money worries for most in the UK.
The right wing media supports it and so the voice becomes an echo chamber. Do they ever criticise this govt? Send me examples if you can find any.
Please don't fall for the lies 🙏🏼
The wealth of the super rich has risen 22% since the pandemic.
The number of billionaires in UK reached record levels during the Covid crisis.
Please stand up and be counted in this coming year. The next election is a critical turning point for our children and their children.
Please make sure that you are registered to vote x ❤️👍🏼
all i want is to sit in a silly little coffee shop, reading a silly little mystery novel, drinking a silly little coffee and eating a silly little cake
The Met didn't fine Boris Johnson for a party held at the height of a lockdown.
But they're prosecuting 4 people who attended a socially distanced vigil to remember a woman kidnapped & killed by one of their own.
And they wonder why confidence in policing is at an all-time low.
Profits are soaring. Living standards are plummeting. The reason the Tories did nothing today to address this is because this is the economy they want: one that serves the super-rich.
Rishi Sunak, a multi-millionaire married to the daughter of a billionaire, will stand and tell us tomorrow that he "understands" our financial struggles.
@georgiamariexo Amber is exactly like this! Even when we find a food she likes, she’ll be a little pig for a day or 2 and then go back to just eating very little. She also only licks the jelly off wet food 😂 The vets say she is completely healthy though so I wouldn’t worry xx
Today it was announced that the body that decides MPs’ pay will give MPs a pay rise of £2,200.
This is the wrong decision when millions face a cost-of-living crisis.
As previously promised, I will donate any extra money I get to foodbanks here in East Leeds.
Next month, MPs get a £2,200 pay rise to £84,144 while the country gets a rise in national insurance, energy bills & council tax.
We’re already in the top 5% of earners.
When I was elected, I pledged to take home £35k and donate the rest to local causes. That won't be changing.
Under normal circumstances there's a very good argument why we should be taxing oil & gas companies more, but given the current suffering and unbearable choices facing households with #energybills it's impossible to justify NOT tapping into those profits.

For those who think a Green New Deal, circular economy and energy transition are too radical and extreme...
The scale of this flooding astounded even climate scientists - the very people who have been sounding the alarm. Is that not extreme?
