A book canNOT be considered multicultural if it is written by a white author. Students need see themselves in the story, and as the creator of the story.
I feel that “being anti-racist” has the same problems that “being an ally” does. People have taken it to be an identity when it should be an action. A verb.
There is much to be said about a boo that powerful but right now I can’t find the words. All I can say is THANK YOU @kwamealexander for sharing this story with the world.
My 6th grade class finished reading The Crossover today by @kwamealexander I warned them..., but they weren’t ready. They thought I was just being “emotional .” 😭😭😭 I will never forget their gasps, expressions, and the emotions as I read the Third Quarter to the conclusion...
Students at Belle Haven Elementary are loving the first book in the series, “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” @itsmeMsAnders has done a great job of building interest and excitement for literacy!
Not only is Standardize Testing during a global pandemic stressful to children, it’s disrespectful to the millions of educators who have worked tirelessly the past 348 Days.

This is NOT doing right by students, who had no control of ANYTHING. They had their WHOLE world ripped away in a second...

And now we’re going to force them to do testing that is already stressful on them...
STRESSFUL TESTING. IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. TRAUMA ON TRUMA ON TRAUMA.

They did something no adult has ever had to to, they LEARNED during a pandemic. They saw their friends and teachers thru a screen.
They made US feel better by turning on their videos, telling jokes, or asking a question when they knew we frustrated with Virtual Learning.
We hope every state will submit a request to suspend high stakes school rankings and potentially harmful sanctions against already struggling schools.
