-This thread considers Black Westerners anyone who is Black and (ac)cultured in the West
-Westerness in this conversation is used as a global class marker, rather than an ethnic marker and exists across the diaspora
-Black American culture is a distinct culture with its own set of values, customs and language. Keep it cute in these reply’s!
-The purpose of this thread is to call for a traversing of these Black and African multitudes together and to acknowledge different timelines of existing while Black in the world

We need to have an honest conversation around how Western Blackness informs some of these ahistorical expectations of non-Western Black people.

Yes, you can be Black and still behave like a typical Westerner.

This is giving me ‘The year the world discovered Beyoncé is Black,’ but make it ‘The year Black Westerners discovered they are indeed Westerners, who expect global conversations to be held in their dominant narrative language.’
