Lastest update in my country "Indonesia"

The situation in Indonesia is heating up again due to numerous provocations carried out by certain individuals.

There are also 17 + 8 public demands for transparency, reform and empathy, as quoted from Jerome Polin Instagram.

Here are the details 👇

Within 1 Week (Deadline: Sept 5)

1. Form an independent investigation into police/military violence cases.
2. Withdraw the military (TNI) from civilian security.
3. Release all detained demonstrators, no criminalization.
4. Prosecute commanders/officers responsible for violence.
5. Stop police brutality and follow SOPs.
6. Freeze DPR salary/allowance hikes, cancel new perks, ensure budget transparency.
7. Investigate DPR members’ assets through KPK.
8. Check and sanction DPR members who harass public aspirations.
9. Political parties must dismiss or punish unethical cadres.
10. Parties must commit to side with the people in this crisis.
11. DPR members must join public dialogue with students and civil society.
12. Enforce discipline so TNI doesn’t take over police duties.
13. TNI must not interfere in democratic civilian spaces.
14. Guarantee fair wages for all workers (teachers, health staff, laborers, gig workers).
15. Take action to prevent mass layoffs and protect contract workers.
16. Open dialogue with unions on minimum wage and outsourcing.

Within 1 Year (Deadline: Aug 31, 2026)

1. Major cleanup and reform of DPR.
2. Reform political parties, strengthen executive oversight.
3. Draft fairer tax reform.
4. Pass and enforce the Asset Confiscation Bill, strengthen KPK & anti-corruption laws.
5. Ensure independence of KPK.
6. Reform the police to be professional and humane.
7. Fully return TNI to the barracks, no exceptions.
8. Strengthen Komnas HAM and independent watchdog institutions.
9. Review and reform economic and labor policies

From 17 urgent demands (1 week deadline) to 8 long term reforms (1 year deadline) the people want:

- End to police/military violence
- Transparency in DPR & political reform
- Fair wages, anti-corruption, & justice

For me: Stop brutality, clean up DPR, protect workers, and pass the Asset Confiscation Bill 🙏
