Imagine blowing 30 years of search engine dominance—so much so that your website became a verb—only to kill your search engine in favor of a inferior product only tech bros and their sycophants like.
Zohran Mamdani: “We’re talking about a federal administration that has spent close to $30B killing thousands of people at a time when working class people across this country cannot afford the bare minimum and to be told a city run grocery store is implausible, but spending more than $500M a day to kill people in Iran and Lebanon is not only plausible, but necessary — it speaks to a broken kind of politics”
Also, as a broke college student I lowkey used to dumpster dive the compost bins at grocery stores for the fresh fruit and veggies on top. I cannot emphasize enough how much of it was not even bruised and would look exactly like it was straight off the shelf.
worked grocery store for 4 years, the sheer volume of perfectly good food that'd get thrown out of deli/bakery/sushi would bring you to tears if you saw it. millions of pounds is not an exaggeration
My small local Mennonite store is the only place I’ve known to do this. They also discount food more and more as it gets close to expiration, and sometimes even offer it for free. At least they make some money back off the product this way, but the corporate world doesn’t care.
The U.S. not discounting perishable foods an hour before closing time is solely because of greed and cruelty. In America, they will rather throw away millions of pounds of food instead of coming up with a solution that benefits all but nope they’ll even arrest dumpster divers.
My new job provides lunch for free (it’s me second job to do so) and it is the only way that I eat lunch honestly. When I didn’t have this perk it was often nothing or a can of peas (I’m odd I like canned peas so nbd but it was just that I couldn’t consistently prep a lunch)
I pray all my ADHD babes find the jobs, lifestyle, partners, and environments that empower them to put their health first and find work arounds to these very real challenges.
Separate fridges, meat prep, frozen meals, pasta, rice cookers, smoothies… are your best friend!!!
idk, i just find it a bit absurd that the man who set fire to a warehouse full of toilet paper is facing more immediate consequences than literally any of the men in the epstein files.
@Hannughh I’ve experienced this feature in my car but it was one side going out occasionally which felt very odd and then I’d hit a bump and it was like it never happened.
