We need to understand the difference btw going to church & BEING the Church; Christ is present when we gather around His Body, AS His Body.

[Peter Mansour @itspetermansour]

@costantinoskiof @Coptic_Chad This is just incorrect.

@NotMyWorkTweets @MaryLauraWilson Breakfast at @BoulangerieC_DC, check out @DumbartonOaks since I see you're a PhD at AHOS, then lunch at @ilcanaledc. Then kill the remaining time by the waterfront, on M Street, or exploring the neighborhood & University. I'd recommend the neighborhood. DM if you have questions!

@andualemhailu the sun darkened
the moon became blood
the stars speedily fell
so that they would not see the nakedness of he who clothed them with light

Congratulations to Fr. Arsenius Mikhail on the publication of his new book! He has edited three key texts on the Coptic liturgy into English, making this the very first time these texts have been translated for a modern audience! Learn more at https://t.co/txqzvta8IW

An unnamed OCF student emerged from his dorm room yesterday to see his shadow. There will be four more weeks until Great Lent.

I dream of a parish without screens.

As much as I know how beneficial they can be and as much as I love @CopticReader, I wish worship wasn't another place I needed to have my eyes glued to a screen.

@HanyNTakla What can we do to help?

[Peter Mansour @itspetermansour]

@PharoK @suscopts ...this misunderstanding is far from what was typical historically in the Coptic rite and it is still very much present throughout the rest of the Orthodox world.

The Diaconate is in need of a real revival. May God guide us to bring this about.

[Peter Mansour @itspetermansour]

@PharoK @suscopts Since the role/presence of the [full] Deacon practically disappeared over the past 3-8 centuries in the Coptic Church, it is almost scandalous for us to think of anyone but the presbyters offering incense when in reality...

Still wondering about the work SupportMyService does? Give this a watch!

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”

Together, we’re working to ensure more workers have the opportunity to work.

[SupportMyService @OrthodoxService]

Every aspect of our Church came together because someone put in the work to make it happen. But what if they hadn’t - or couldn't?

SupportMyService wants to make resources available so invaluable ministries can thrive. Together, we can all invest in the future of the Church!

After chatting with a friend about the potential for a revived diaconate in the Coptic church:

"All this "education" is rotting your mind. Deacons are 6 and full deacons are 89

Everyone knows that"

Me, knowing he's being sarcastic but that 99.9% of the church feels this way:

Today we launch SupportMyService, an initiative looking to bring ministry ideas to life in the Coptic Orthodox Church. Our website is live and so is our first pilot project:

An unparalleled, new translation of the Coptic Psalmody into English. This will benefit all English-speaking parishes throughout the world and will be a resource for parishes and academics alike for generations to come!

“A church with a lack of formation in the Mysteries will eventually lose sense of the supernatural reality. The danger is that such a community becomes centered on this world... and losing its longing for eternal life.” Fr. Kyrillos Ibrahim

[Peter Mansour @itspetermansour]

@young_moniiii And this comes from a very poor and elementary understanding of sacramental theology and how it works within salvation. For apostolic Christians, the sacraments are the means by which we accept Christ’s salvation. For Protestantism, sacraments are a way to earn salvation.

[Peter Mansour @itspetermansour]

@young_moniiii This stems from Protestantism discrediting the Christianity of Catholicism. In their view, Catholics profess that they are saved by works and not through Christ, and therefore they disqualify them, along with Orthodox Christians, from being Christians.
