Here's why I think obsidian won the AI note-taking app race without putting AI in anything:

1. Compatibility: markdown works with anything (claude code, cursor, everything...)

So here's a hot take: Obsidian basically won the note-taking app race by doing absolutely nothing with AI.

Out of the box, it has zero AI features. It is just a plain, simple markdown editor.

But that is exactly why it won.
