@Councillorsuzie It’s very simple, the government already had the lease on the building. GCHQ have worked there since 2019. It wouldn’t be hard to put a no 10 north graphic on a screen in a building they already lease. You’re looking for a scandal but this isn’t it
@antmiddleton What for exactly? You did know the government already leased the building since 2019 and all they did was put a no 10 north graphic on a screen? Thick
@Anniepop2027@LBC@SkyNews@BBCNews GCHQ leased it since 2019 so I imagine it was due to be renewed anyway. I’m sure GCHQ still operate there also because it’s a fairly big building
@jomickane GCHQ have been leasing it since 2019 I think so maybe it was due to be renewed anyway and thought GCHQ would still use it. I think they’re still based there tbh
@HearMeQueef@coco___bongo@richardintheuk Everyone moans about Westminster being out of touch and London centric but when someone actually shifts PART of it to other areas there’s feigned outrage. Other gov depts do it and have done it for a few years, even channel 4 and ITV do it so I don’t see how this is any different
@HearMeQueef@coco___bongo@richardintheuk I just don’t see why we’re taking issue with this when governments have wasted and are wasting money on similar things every day. Like the new GCHQ building you mentioned which I don’t think you said you was outraged by?
@Councillorsuzie The PM sitting in Westminster hasn’t worked so far has it? people can split their time between two places, I don’t know why we are assuming he’ll never step foot in London again as if people every day don’t do that. It’s doable and it comes across as snobbery. Give it a chance!
@HearMeQueef@coco___bongo@richardintheuk The civil servants etc will still be largely based in Whitehall, the entire government isn’t being moved there. GCHQ works in that same office and have done for years, DHSC has a large predominant base in Leeds. Its already happening; It’s just moaning because you want to moan
@coco___bongo@richardintheuk Do you feel like things have improved? Or are issues getting worse? Do you think power should be centralised in London and other areas outside of it left behind? Decisions being made in Whitehall by people who rarely leave
@Norton101010@Jenniferarcuri They aren’t moving parliament. Someone needs a lesson on the difference between what a parliament is and what a government is
@JohnJamesNI Probably not because the home office likely deals with that, and Whitehall, and UKVI, and border force, and the FCDO, and Downing Street, to name a few
