@ElliottsLament @GunnerDobbins I think Vince Gilligan said in an interview/podcast the gist of what happened. Basically, Gretchen took Walt to meet her parents, and Walt realised just how wealthy/successful they were. He felt massively inadequate as a result, and left her.

So yeah, it's entirely on Walt.
