CPEC once poured billions into Pakistan. Now stalled: only 38 of 90 projects completed. ML-1 railway endlessly delayed. Sharif’s 2024 Beijing trip brought no new money.

Tensions rose over unpaid dues and 21 killed Chinese workers. Pakistan offered Beijing a permanent Gwadar base, but demanded US protection, military upgrades and sea-based nuclear second-strike capability.

China refused, unwilling to risk nuclear proliferation fallout. Talks collapsed bitterly. Munir had already chosen sides.

The mask of "Azad" is slipping. The JAAC’s call for a massive long march and indefinite lockdown starting June 9 is a direct indictment of #Pakistan’s extractive system.
